What I have in mind

Welcome back on board!!!

Hello everyone, I am here again to share new things with you. In this post I am very proud to show you my visual metaphor of my Open Educational Digital Project. As all of you know in my latest post I started to design my open educational digital project and now I created a poster that shows how my project it is going to turn into a collaborative project.

As teacher that we are, we have to take into account that marks of exams are not the best way to learn. As 21st teachers we have to bear in mind new techniques in order to teach our students. One of this techniques that will help to enrich the students learning-process and also teacher long-live-learning is collaboration techniques.

Without the cooperation of its members society cannot survive, and the society of man has survived because the cooperativeness of its members made survival possible…. It was not an advantageous individual here and there who did so, but the group. In human societies the individuals who are most likely to survive are those who are best enabled to do so by their group.

(Ashley Montagu, 1965)

Collaboration:The action of working with someone to produce something (Definition retrieved from the Oxford Dictionary)

As the Oxford Dictionary says collaboration allows to work with others and what is more to produce something taking profit of the knowledge of others. Moreover, collaboration work also fosters socialization, which is one fundamental pillar of our society. If in the schools kids just learn to pass the final exam we are creating a selfish society because those kids do not think in passing the exam, they are thinking in having more mark than their classmates. However, with collaboration work we are fostering the socialization of our students that will have benefits in a long period. A few weeks ago, I read an article of the Forbes Magazine that says that companies nowadays are seeking people with other skills than just been better that the others, the skills that the magazine mention are that they are seeking people who know how to work in group, respect the values scale and its word, know how to lead and be led...

Having said that, I would like to say that my Open Educational Digital Project had suffer some changes in order to make it more collaborative.

First of all, in my Open Educational Digital Project prototype I wrote that the final task of the project it would be the creation of animal cards. However, taking into account all the collaboration project that we can find in the Internet I have changed my final task in order to make it more collaborative and richer for de learning-process of the kids.

Afterwards of searching on the net about collaboration projects, I decided that The Twima Project is the ideal collabotation movement that fits with my Open Educational Digital Project. This movement fits because it is related with storytelling, and also kids will learn with the use of new tools to make their work visible to the world.

Notwithstanding and in order to fit in this collaboration movement, the new final task of my project will be the creation of an animal books, each group will have a different animal, using the online free tool Book Creator. With this fantastic app  kids will have the oportunity to reflect all the knowledge that they have been learning though the Open Educational Digital Project and what is more we will upload those book to the net.

Finally, I would like to mention that to put into practice this project I have to bear in mind which kind of collaboration I want for my project. In this case, I chose the collaboration out of the classroom. This type of collaboration, we will allow to our students  to be involved in the real world while they are working in their learning. Besides this, they also will be able to see the connection with what they are learning with the reality of the society, that from my point of view the purpose of the schools should be to connect their learning with the realty that they are going to find outside those walls.

Here I leave you the visual metaphor that I created. In order to create this I used the digital tool called Canva. This tool it is very interesting and I believe that it can have a lot of educational possibilities because of all the templates that offers.

Before conclude let me say that with this task I learnt an important value that it is the value of improve your task in order to do it better. No matter how many times you do an activity what really matter it is that you as students have to acquire the knowledge.

Let me conclude this post, saying that this task has taught that collaboration can be one tool that can help you in the most difficult times of your work and also it is a human resource that most of the schools do not use and it is a pity because all the buildings of the world were built with the collaboration of hundred of people.

Do you like books?

Welcome back on board!!!

Hello everyone, I am here again with new things to share. What I bring you today is my educational digital project prototype. This educational project is based on a book called Horton Hears a Who! I chose a book because I think that as teachers we have to promote reading among our students.

When I was a kid, I didn't like to read I though that books were something very boring and there were just letters in a page and because of that I preferred to watch television. However, one day I took the first book of Harry Potter and I discovered a whole new world that opened my eyes. Since that moment I can't stop reading and I am a little bit obsessed with books but I believe  that it is not a bad habit.

My educational digital project is based on one of the books of Dr.Seuss. With this book I pretend to work the content of natural science but without using an ordinary textbook. The moral of the book is the same value that a textbook wants to teach so it means that with this book I can teach the same things. Regarding the ICT, How can I tell a book without using the book? very simple answer. Nowadays we are surrounded by devices and inside these devices we can download apps, not all the apps in the world are games, there is an app that it is an interactive book that tells us the story of Horton Hears a Who! with this awesome app and a digital board we can create a perfect teaching-learning environment.

Having said that, I leave you here a video explaining my educational digital project with all its aims and outcomes.

A part of the video, I also leave you here a template of my digital prototype. In this template you can see in detail how the digital project will be.

Let me conclude by saying, that with this prototype what I pretend it is to develop a great digital project that integrates ICT and picture books and what is more important for me that it will be a digital project where the students will learn the same content without using the oldfashiond textbooks.

Ready to cook?

Welcome back on board!!!!

Hello everyone, I am here again with new things and also very interesting ones. What I bring you today is an analysis of an open educational project. The project that I analyzed is called "A Cookbook": ABP,currículo y evaluación. This project was created by the Ministry of Education specifically it was created by the intef(Instituto Nacional de technologies educativas y de formación del profesorado).

Web link of the project: http://cedec.ite.educacion.es/es/noticias-de-portada/2419-qa-cookbookq-abp-curriculo-y-evaluacion-

What I did in order to fulfill this task, was first of all reading the post through the eyes of a teacher. Reading it in that way open my mind and what it's more I saw beyond the text. Once I read the post, I analysed in depth asking me a lot of questions like: Is this activity level appropriate? Do you think this could be carried out by primary students? What are the learning outcomes? Do you think that it is possible learning English through this?.

With all this questions I started to wonder how this project could work in a high school and also as a primary teacher that I am, I was always thinking in adapting the project for primary kids. From my humble point of view, I think that this project it is perfect because it teaches how we can get away from the textbooks and learn the same things without them.

In order to make an engaging analyze of this project I created a PowerPoint and a Genialy. In the PowerPoint, you will see how the project has passed most of our grading criteria and also I add in each slide a brief opinion of that part of the project.

Analysis cookbook from Alvaro Anton Perez

The Genialy that I created, it is to show you how without having superpowers I saw between lines when I was reading the post. In this Genialy you can observe how I found all the outcomes of the project.

Let me conclude by saying, that this activity opened my eyes because currently the philosophy of teaching that I want to implement in my classes is learning without textbooks. Analyzing this post I realized that there are other teachers in Spain that are following this philosophy and that makes me be proud of them because one day I wanna be just like them.

Moreover, I believe that all the projects inside EDIA project can be adapted to primary education and what is more I am sure that primary kids will be more enthusiastic than secondary kids. With this analysis I learnt a lot of things and also new ICT tools like Genialy that it is very easy and primary kids can handle it without problems.

Thanks to this, I learn that there are other teachers in Spain like me and what it is more no everyone wants to teach with textbooks.
